Let's observe the Leonid meteor shower This meteor shower is one of the most popular meteor showers among meteor shower observers.  The average number of meteors seen per hour from this meteor shower is a small figure of about 20. However, it is active once every 33 years.  That is, the comet that causes this meteor shower comes close to Earth every 33 years. Therefore, this meteor shower is at its maximum every 33 years.  The last time such an activation occurred was in the years 1999 - 2001. There, a very large number of meteors were seen in one hour.
